Hey Everyone
So new drama in today. But first a little background info on the situation. One of my classes is called Trandiciplinary Arts and SOSE where we look at teaching the arts and SOSE to students and how you can use both together. Well as usual we have 2 profs, and while they both work together on making up the course they do mark thier own individual groups. I have this class every wednesday morning where we look at the SOSE side of things for 7 out of the 9 weeks. on the 3rd week and on the 7th we have a saturday class where we deal only with the arts componants to the course. This is done because Trici, the arts prof, has a conflict of schedule and is unable to teach at our wed. course time. she does however mark one out of the 3 tutorial groups; each tutorial having 12 students. And wouldnt you know my luck, im in her tutorial group. These groups are soley for the "forum postings" -an assignment we have to do where alternating fridays we do a post or comment on others posts.
Alright now heres the issue. When my group got our feedback for the first forum from this prof she was straight and too the point. Which is funny cause they always preach to us all about proper ways to give feedback as to not discourage the students. But nope she was blunt and pointed out ur flaw in a sentance and moved on. It all ended up sounding really rude. and we couldnt go and talk o her about it since we only see her 2 saturdays of the entire semester... last friday our Forum 2 posting was due. We all went and checked this morning to find that she did not give us individual reviews like she should have. She made a new post where she said...and i quote...
"I have read through the postings and I must say that you clearly didn't process the advice I gave at the Saturday workshop....
This subject has a range of readings covering the variety of knowledge bases of this subject, ensure you read them all and synthesise them. You have all segmented the ideas and failed to draw the links.
Secondly, I will simply say the subject is called Transdisciplinary SOSE/Arts... consider this in your approach to all of your work in this subject. Those 3 words are the key!"
Now why it may not seem like it to you while reading this its extremely rude and the entire tutorial group is up in arms. Mainly because of these reasons:
1) No one understands what she meant by us not taking her advice from the workshop...... *hint* if ur entire tutorial group missed what you said then you didnt make it clear enough
2) The question stated to look at two lessons and evaluate the different teaching strategies used. so what the hell is she talking about ?
3) the other two tutorial groups did the same as we did pretty much and none of their feedback was bad.
4) i dont see how thats helpful feedback at all? ...
So whats being done: no one wants to accuse her of being wrong or blame it on the fact that shes 4/5 months pregnant and if bitchy as all hell **rolls eyes** and yet no one thinks its fair that our group is the only one being marked this way. So since we have no on campus communications with her one of the group members responded to her post pretty much saying we dont understand her feedback and for her to clear it up if possible. secondly the 12 of us are going to go see the prof that we do see every week ( fantastic awesome prof Mallihai) n see if she plans on marking her groups the same way and just kind of bring up that we dont think its very fair that we're being marked differently. Its a good way to make a stand i think because its not accusing her and yet we can still make our point....we'll see how it goes tomorrow.
