Weekend Update

Hello All,

Weekend Update as follows:  *WARNING* = Uber lame weekend lol

Friday:  Really didnt do too too much. Our landlady offered to take us shopping so we dont have to take the bus home with our groceries. Shes really nice like that. Then we headed up to campus so that i could take care of some OSAP papers and mail em off then home to watch a couple movies.

Saturday: Very uneventful. We woke up and did some extra house cleaning and some laundry. ..see lameeeeeeee.

*-*-*Shoutout to Julie and Cam: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!*-*-*

Sunday: we hung out for a bit and then went to see Transformers. After the movie we passed a TON of people in rugby jerseys. I guess there was a game playing but they were all hyper and crazy ! it was halarious. What wasnt halarious was the man peeing in a corner fo a building right where the bus passes. I was not impressed. On an upside while i was waiting for Nate to unlock the house door somthign was jumping around in the tree behind me. So i took out the keychain flashlight to check it out and it was a POSSUM! how cool is that!? i knew that they lived in the trees above the house but its the first time ive seen one so i thought it was sweet!!

Adventure to Southbank
Mood:  happy

Nothing much really happened on Wed (hence the lack of update) but TONS happened today! Nathan and I woke up early and he decided to go pick macadamia nuts off the tree in the backyard [yes we have Macadamia nut trees, grapefruit tree, avacados, passionfruit trees all in our backyard!] . While doing so he came across an Eastern brown snake.

FYI - The Eastern Brown Snake is the second most venomous land snake in the world and is the species responsible for most deaths caused by snakebite in Australia

Crazy eh!? it was hibernating but Nathan thought it was a good idea to poke it lol Luckily it just slithered off to head back to sleep. - Never a dull start to the day around here! hahaha  *See pics of the snake, macadamia nut cracking in the album below *

After that interesting morning Nathan took me to explore Southbank. The first thing I saw was the giant farriswheel they have, apparently from the top you can see all of brisbane! They call it "the eye", we were going to go on it but id rather keep my $10 and see brisbane from the ground LOL. Then we follwed the giant pathway that goes all aroun southbank. It was B-E-A-UTIFUL! completely enclosed (for the most part) with green vines and pretty flowers. Then on the way to the beach we went through the "Rainforest Walk". It was small but very very relaxing. Then we went down to the river and waled along the boardwalk. We watched the citycat (a boat that acts like a bus) and found a friendship stone lol Then we checked out a part of the man made beach - most of it was closed for construction but should be opening in Aug. Then I found a bunch of Ibis birds and a place called Picnic island. SO PRETTY! OH! and while we were walking around Nathan found the kind of bush/tree he wants for the hedge maze! YAY ! (see the pics) We then decided to go to the next road over and found a bunch of little stores. Including one with very odd mannequins in the window - one had a pot on its head LOL dunno why but it made me laugh - and a candy shop! Where you could fill a bag of candy for cheap so of course we did! Then i found a sign in a window that reminded me of Jess and two chefs in a cart that made me think of Chris lol. Next we found a lego education center where i decided i wanted to teach at. Who doesnt want to play with lego all day?!? Nate and I then found a museum. We went to go check out how much it is and it was FREE! How cool is that?! There are a TON of photos from the museum below!. We wernt able to finish the whole museum while we were there but we will most def be heading back soon. So many things to read and look at!! After that we just headed home where Nathan made some delicious pizza for supper. Then we just hung out and watched Happy Feet and Ghost Rider until bedtime. All in all a fantastic day in Aussie!!

Kangaroo Scrotum and Slippers
Mood:  a-ok

Today was the first day of rain ive experienced here, and luckily it was a very light rain. Nate and I watched a movie before heading to the mall again so i could get some post cards for everyone and look into getting some slippers. While looking around in all the souvenir shops I found some of the funniest things evere such as Kangaroo Scrotum (no im not joking,  a real kangaroo scrotum right up there next to the Kangaroo paw). I laughed and decided that if it wasnt $30 then i would totally buy it for someone as their gift LOL.  On a sadder note I'm apparently a giant here when it comes to shoes lol. Even in payless (which always dedicates a full row or so to sizes higer then 10 back in Canada) they had maybe 20 shoes that were size 10w-12. So i guess Mom and Dad are shipping my slippers lol. laaaaame.

hahahahaha Kangaroo Scrotum

To the city and beyond!
Mood:  energetic

Today was an AWESOME day Laughing Nathan and I ventured into downtown where we went to the Queen st Mall. Theres a huge outdoor courtyard and pathways lined with stores, so many things to look at and check out! Very exciting. After we walked around for a bit we caught another bus over to the Kelvin Grove campus of QUT. Seriously the building looks like its somthing off the OC lol. So awesome. Each of the buildings were marked by what I swear is a giant boggle letter LOL (see the pics to decide for yourself)While on campus I saw another wild turkey lol and got my Student ID card and my Blue card (a card needed to work with any children in Australia). Unfortunatly I have to go back on wed or thursday to have my password changed so i can log into my main school account as well as to get my courses all set up.Def a very fun and exciting day.

Day one in Aussie!
Mood:  celebratory

After sleeping the morning away Nate and I woke up and packed up all of the remaining things from his old room and moved into the new place! YAY! we have our own place!! The landlady is really really nice and down to earth. The place is small but big enough for the two of us :) After that we went into the nearest town -Paddington - (like the bear)  and did some groceries. then came back home and moved all our stuff in and put everything away. For all those who want/need it our address here is 14 Cecil Road, Bardon QLD 4065.

Check out the pics of our house :)

Screw Flying ...I Want A Teleporter!

My flights were..well... interesting? Saying goodbye to my parents was probably the hardest thing ever to do but I gotta go solo eventually right? After that I had about an hour before they started to boarding my first flight (from Toronto to Vancouver - 5 hour flight) During the wait I didn't do much, just checked out all the little stores and checkd out all the people who were going to be on the same plane and choosing which ones i really hope im not stuck sitting beside LOL - i said no to the baby and the young children but yes to the monks (i just think theyd be cool to sit beside hahaha). Meanwhile they ended up cancelling the other flight and moving them on to the monster plane i'd be taking. Thankfully I lucked out and was sitting beside a really nice Australian old couple heading back home from the states where they were visiing family. Unfortunatly when I landed in Vancouver I ended up getting really sick- prob. just from exhaustion :S . When i got back on the plane for my second flight ( Vancouver to Sydney -~14.5 hour flight ) i really didnt want to do anything but sleep, so i put in my earphones and slept as best as i could considering i was on a plane. That was the slowest 14 hours of my life. I watched an insane amount of movies and listened to almost all the music they had on the plane lol. There was a huge wind storm happening all over Aust. so as we got closer we had alot of turbulance and even though we arrived in sydney a half hour early, we ended up circling the airport for over said half hour before we were able to land. Then between customs, getting my luggage, heading to the opposite side of the airport, checking in and security i had all of 5 mins to get to my gate before my 3rd plane (sydney to Brisbane -1.5 hrs) boarded. On an upside tho I swear to God they found the plane that wasin the most need of some oil and put us all on it lol. Again we were delayed about a half hour for the crazy wind which lead to horrible turbulance the entire flight over. Add that to the plane making wierd creaking/squeaking noises everytime the wings adjust etc., and sitting in the middle of a smelly old guy and some young marine (who i think doesnt do well with flying - altho  i cant blame him with this plane)  and that was the worst plane ride of my life. Sigh. As soon as i got off the plane tho Nathan <3 was there with a beautiful bouquet of daisies with pretty purple flowers mixed in and the biggest smile ever just for me. :D . that made the horrible planes well worth it. After that it was just the matter of getting my bags and heading back to Nathans so that i could sleep, which i did for a solid 16 hours ..stupid jet lag lol So all in all I have one year in which to invent/find/buy a transporter so that i no longer have to deal with this crazy flying buisness.
